A Arnoia is thermal country, and Ourense, one of the thermal capitals of southern Europe. Hot water has sprung up here since time immemorial, and bathing in it is a plan to be enjoyed all year round.
The pools of the Miño
Along the river, in the city of Ourense and its surroundings, one open-air thermal pool follows another: Outariz and A Chavasqueira —with their Japanese-bath atmosphere—, or the Muíño da Veiga. Some are free with open access; others, paid, offer a more complete circuit. The sight of bathing in steaming water with the river flowing right beside you is hard to forget.
As Burgas, the historic heart
Right in the centre of Ourense flow As Burgas, the thermal springs that gave rise to the city, with water that gushes out at more than 60 ºC. Its monumental fountain and the adjoining thermal pool are a must-see.
Close to home: Prexigueiro
Very near A Arnoia, next to Ribadavia, the Prexigueiro hot springs offer a circuit of pools deep in nature. And in the municipality itself, the emblematic Balneario de Arnoia is a reminder of this land’s thermal calling.
